Responsible business practice is now recognised as being essential if global development is to be sustainable. Corporate success and wealth creation depends increasingly upon the co-operation of businesses with NGO’s, governments and local communities in seeking to address key social and environmental issues. Business will continue to play a crucial role in wealth creation, but for sustainability of production and of markets, responsible business will need to act, and be seen to act on issues ranging from climate change, sustainability and waste management, to poverty reduction, prevention of conflict and the protection human rights in the supply chain. Responsible business practice goes beyond compliance with minimum legislative requirements and regulations to imbue fundamental core values at the heart of its business model.
